Neda & Mark’s Champagne Poppin’ Engagement Session

Neda & Mark wanted to do something fun and unique for their engagement session, so we came up with popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate their upcoming wedding day. This awesome couple brought their gorgeous, eclectic Anthropologie couch and Neda – the amazingly fantastic stylist – coordinated herself and Mark in bright, fun, beautiful colors. We had rain clouds looming over us all day, but decided to hope for the best and went ahead with our plan to meet. I arrived at the park early, and as soon as I pulled in, the rain started coming down. I called Neda and Mark, who were on there way (with the truck & couch following behind them), and we really had one option- to PRAY that the rain would stop! As they pulled in, the rain went from a drizzle, to a sprinkle, and ended with the clouds parting for the sun to shine! We were ecstatic! The session went beautifully- they had a ball popping the champagne (and shaking it up and popping it a few extra times for good measure) and toasting to the luck of the day, the beautiful sunlight, and of course, LOVE.

The First Look

These are the moments that bring tears to our eyes. Being able to capture such amazing and authentic emotion makes our job so meaningful. We are honored to have the trust of our clients to capture such intimate moments. This first look was just too beautiful not to have a blog of it’s own.

Wendy + Neal’s Backyard Lakeside Wedding

We were honored to be a part of Wendy & Neal’s beautiful backyard celebration. This couple opted to use their own stunning property to host their ceremony & reception, complete with a cruise on a yacht across Lake Norman for cocktail hour! Wendy & Neal’s landscape was transformed into a nautical themed wonderland by the talented Sterling by Design team, complete with perfectly styled blue and pinks hues. Their thoughtful details included monogrammed drink cozies, personalized compass favors for the guests, a canoe filled with cool drinks, hanging tree decor displaying pictures of loved ones passed, an oar for guests to sign, and sailor knots, shells, and anchors galore. Gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces in feminine purples & pinks were provided by the incredibly talented Linkgy Sugg of Flowers by Linkgy. The party continued into the night with a fantastic live band, followed by a fabulous sparkler exit as the couple hopped off the pier and aboard their own yacht, sailing off into the night! We had a wonderful time working with this lovely couple, and we wish them all the best in their lives together! 🙂

Twins! Jamie + Daniel’s maternity session

In honor of celebrating Evie & Mackenzie’s first birthday (AND getting to photograph it!), I wanted to do a blog of Jamie and Daniel’s sweet, emotional maternity session from February of last year.

This lovely woman was the first friend I made when I moved from Pennsylvania to South Carolina in 2010. From day one Jamie (“Aunt Jamie”) was so loving to my own little boy, and I knew God had given her a special gift of motherhood. Jamie and Daniel faced many trials and heartaches trying to conceive, and I grieved deeply for her struggle and frustration with God’s plan. Through so much turmoil, a huge blessing came when Jamie found out she was pregnant in September of 2012. And THEN found out she was pregnant with not one, but two sweet baby girls! I couldn’t be happier for these two, and their adorable, chubby little angels. God has answered so many prayers in their lives. I’ve never seen anyone so grateful to wake up every two hours for one baby and then another, to be covered in spit up at all times, to have no social life, and to be working the tedious, grueling 24-hours-a-day job we call “mother”. God bless her for seeing it all as the gift that it is.

Johanna + Mark’s Sweet Summer Wedding

How cool are these two? Cool enough to invite us to Mark’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themed birthday party after we shot their wedding! It’s so exciting to walk away from a wedding not only with awesome clients, but awesome friends as well. Johanna and Mark put on one of our FAVORITE weddings from our 2013 season, choosing Hightower Hall in Historic Brattonsville for their ceremony and reception. The house was GORGEOUS! Their reception was so fun, and here’s a tip for you future brides: twirl your dress at your reception! It makes for GREAT photos! Johanna knew how to party in her dress, and we just love that! It’s yours for one day, why not just have fun and not worry about keeping it sparkling clean? Wear it, love it, and love your Day. We certainly loved capturing it :-).

Cori + Matt’s New Castle Waterfront E Session

I had a great time in Pennsylvania in August photographing Cori & Matt’s engagement session! They chose a historic part of downtown New Castle, Delaware, a romantic place for a photo session which I had never been to! It was right up against the Delaware River, so we had that lovely backdrop to work with as well. I shot their winter wedding on December 13th- blog coming soon!

Jessica + Reggie: Happily Ever After

We had a wonderful time capturing Jessica & Reggie’s lovely September wedding at St. Mary’s Chapel in uptown Charlotte, and at the beautiful, picturesque Wadsworth Estate. The weather was perfect, the light was beautiful, and we couldn’t have been happier! Jessica chose a detour between her ceremony and reception to capture portraits of the happy couple at the Charlotte Greenway. Kudos to this bride who knows the importance of setting aside time for newlywed portraits! Cocktail hour and a fun, relaxed reception (and more portraits of the bride & groom!) continued at The Wadsworth Estate. We wish a lifetime of love and joy for the happy couple.

Wren + Jeff: Engaged

Meet Wren + Jeff, one of our awesome 2014 couples! We had the pleasure of shooting their Engagement Session in one of our favorite spots, the always beautiful outdoor scenic location of Anne Springs Close Greenway (acres and acres of sprawling forests, trails, fields, even a lake- what more could these photographers ask for??). The lovebirds opted to bring their well-mannered pooch, who oh-so patiently held up their Engagement sign (create by our clever Bride-to-be Wren) for some awesome Save-the-Date shots of the couple. We can’t wait to shoot their Wedding in 2014!

Jessica + John: Married May 25th, 2013

We are happy to start blogging again this year! Although we won’t be able to be able to blog everyone’s wedding and photo session, we are pleased to be able to choose a few to feature for you all to enjoy! Check out Jessica and John’s rustic, whimsical wedding – perfectly designed and tailored for this beautiful outdoor setting at the Tuttle Educational State Forest in Lenoir, North Carolina. This bride and groom couldn’t have hoped for better weather- the sunny, breezy skies were a beautiful ambiance for an equally beautiful ceremony and reception. There were so many sweet details for us to capture, everything from hand painted signs to hanging outdoor “chandeliers” to a beautiful, natural branch archway that the couple was wed under. It was such a treat to capture this wonderful day – thank you Jessica and John for including us!
